Best Appetizer Contest Won by Ice Plant

Over 120 guests enjoyed the First Annual Fundraiser for the Saint Augustine Orchestra (SAO) on Saturday night, March 2. The fundraiser was part of a special three event affair to commemorate the Civil Rights Act as part of the City’s 450th Anniversary commemoration.

This special TRIO of events included a pre-concert party in the elegant Lightner Museum Lobby, VIP seating during the concert held in the Lightner Museum, and a post-concert reception in the beautiful 3rd floor Lightner Museum Ballroom.

The pre-concert party, PRELUDE, included live piano music by Joe Williams. Guests enjoyed an array of appetizers provided by some of the best local restaurants, and wine beer and champagne. Bob Moore gave a short presentation about how he composed Someday, a commissioned music piece to commemorate the Civil Rights movement.

The gala included VIP seating for the concert. In addition to Someday, Thomas Pandolfi, renowned pianist played Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor , and Bill Prince, jazz musician and Jazz Festival Hall of Fame recipient, presented the music of Duke Ellington.

During the FINALE, held in the beautiful 3rd floor Lightner Museum Ballroom, VIP guests enjoyed caked and champagne while guest soloists Thomas Pandolfi and Bill Prince, composer Bob Moore and Maestro William McNeiland mingled with the guests

The gala’s success was due to strong support by numerous generous local businesses. The Best Appetizer Contest was awarded to Ice Plant, with Meehans’ Irish Pub in second place, The Reef receiving the third place, followed very closely by Kingfish Grill. Other appetizer contest participants were: Amici, Candlelight South, Gypsy Cab Co., Raintree, Rhett’s Piano Bar, and The Tasting Room. Other generous donors for the fundraiser included: Casa Monica Hotel, Jim Beam Global, Mile Marker Brewery, Publix Supermarkets, San Sebastian Winery, Skinny Girl Wines, Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida, The Wedding Authority, and of course the home of the orchestra, the Lightner Museum. We cannot thank these generous vendors enough; we ask that you support them with your patronage.
