“Sounds of the Season”, a Holiday Tradition Performed by the St. Augustine Orchestra and the Christ Episcopal Church Chancel Choir

December 13,2013 8 pm & December 15, 2013 3 pm

Mark your calendars for the Holiday Season Concerts performed by the St Augustine Orchestra, the most anticipated concerts of our annual season.  The Chancel Choir from Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra, under the direction of Dr. Rachel Root, will join the St Augustine Orchestra under the direction of William McNeiland to crown your holiday season enjoyment with the beautiful gift of music.

The program will feature the highly anticipated selections from “Messiah” and “The Nutcracker”.  On the light side, two competing versions of “Sleigh Ride” will be performed; one by Mozart and another written by Leroy Anderson.  Traditional carols will be played featuring the orchestra’s brass section.  Many other Christmas spirituals, cowboy carols, and holiday music from operettas, musicals and movies will also be performed.

The Southeast premiere of “Concertino for Bass Drum” by Evan Tonsing will be presented at this concert.  Mr. Tonsing’s work includes original scores for several movies, among other original compositions.

The Holiday Concert will be held December 13th in the beautiful gilded age ambiance of The Lightner Museum at 25 Granada Street in St Augustine.  The program will begin at 8:00 P.M.  An encore performance will be held Sunday afternoon, December 15th at 3:00 P.M. at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive in PonteVedraBeach.  Tickets for Friday’s concert are $15.00 and available at the door.  Sunday’s concert is $10.00 and also available at the door.
